This car was owned by Roger Penske. It was designed and built from white parts during the off season between 1968 and 1969 by Penske Racing and Chevrolet Engineering.
The primary sponsors were Penske Chevrolet, (Roger Penske's dealership) and the Sun Oil Company (hence Sunoco Camaro).
Mark Donohue drove the car in the 1969 season of the SCCA Trans-Am Sedan Series. Out of the twelve races, he finished first six times and second twice to win the championship.
For the 1970 Trans-Am Series, the car was sold to Roy Woods of American Racing Associates and it was driven by Milt Minter.
